The planet Ariel is the fourth planet in the
solar system Ko-Laar. It is a stable planet of
approximately 3 billion years, and is slightly more than 1/2
way through it's life cycle. It is a tropical planet with no
ice caps and vast water resources. Well suited for carbon
based life forms, it ranked high among the options for the
Great Ones for colonization.

The Planet's largest sovereign
state is Nunn-G. It is also the region to be colonized by
societies rescued by the Great Ones. The original 12
colonies continue to reside here, as do the 12 Lords of the
Council.

Who lives here and where did
they come from? The original settlers consisted of Humans,
Elves, Trolls, Orcs, Halfings, Merfolk, Dwarves, Giants,
Goblins, and Satyrs. All from dying planets or societies.
All saved from extinction by the Great ones, and given a
chance to create a never ending society.

Long before there was a written history, there were the Great Ones. A
race of immortal beings who lived through out the heavens. They
were a kind and gentle race who found immense joy in observing
developing cultures and species in the known realms. However,
the great ones were often saddened by the destruction of worlds,
natural disasters, famine, senseless warfare, and disease.
In an attempt to preserve and protect, the Great Ones
transported a seed population to a stable planet on which a
variety of life forms could flourish. We now know this planet as
Ariel. There are 12 primary life forms on Ariel. Each
represented by one Lord who has been converted by the Great Ones
to an immortal. There is also one Supreme Being, though not
immortal, she, and her offspring, rule the Kingdom of Ariel from
her 20th year until the birth of her offspring.
This is not a land without strife, for without strife there
is no growth or development. On Arial the strife revolves around
power. For the Supreme being is lost in the process of
childbirth, and the sire (an immortal) of her child succeeds her
until the child reaches her 20th year. The 20 year reign may be
one of good, darkness, kindness, or vengeance.
On these pages you will read of the strange turns of fate,
unlikely alliances, devious plots, and great loves which make up
every world, including Ariel.

The Supreme Being, a female, rules for one
generation. Her ascent to the throne takes place
in her 20th year. She is immortal in all ways,
except one. During her rule she will conceive a
child, this child will be sired by a member of the
council. No one, including the Supreme being,
knows when this will occur or which council
member's seed carries the unlock key to her
fertility. She will bear the child, but at the
cost of her life.

The Ancients and
Ruling Class |
Planet Ariel was a pet project,
experiment - if you will, of a race referred to by
its inhabitants as The Great Ones. These
benevolent beings seeded Ariel with dozens of
doomed societies from planets through-out the
galaxy, in hopes of cultivating them and answering
the age old question, what if? |
