The Origin of Planet Ariel and the Nunn-G Kingdom

The planet Ariel is the fourth planet in the solar system Ko-Laar. It is a stable planet of approximately 3 billion years, and is slightly more than 1/2 way through it's life cycle. It is a tropical planet with no ice caps and vast water resources. Well suited for carbon based life forms, it ranked high among the options for the Great Ones for colonization.

With an average surface temp of 19 (C) degrees, its tropical regions including the Kingdom of Nunn-G, are pleasantly warm year round. Below is a characteristics chart (courtesy of the Astronomy Dept of IGI).

Ariel's Calendar

The Ariel year  is 525 days long, with 21 months. Each month has 5 weeks of 5 days. There are 2 moons, Mana Be Ca, Nagyn A, with Lunar cyles of 23 and 40 days respectively. The seasons are Belmand, Solaith, Girion,  Riorio, and Na Nessi.  Our story begins in year 1 ROC (Reign of Cocoa), of the 411th Dynasty. Again we would like to thank IGI for research assistance in creating the following calendar.

Ariel's Landmass and Populations

Kingdom of Nunn-G (Full Census not available)

The Kingdom occupies approximately 15% of the inhabitable land mass of Ariel, the remainder of the planet is sparsely inhabited by indigenous groups, cultures, animal and plant life. With 65%  of the surface covered by water, the sea life if abundant including many sea-bound societies. The Kingdom is completely surrounded by water, and although the residents have small fishing and sailing vessels, none are seaworthy enough to venture beyond the continent -- thus isolating them from disrupting the remainder of the planet's ecosystem.

The Great Ones (Unknown)

Benevolent beings from an unknown planet and society thousands of years older than Nunn-G. These beings possess technologies that are not understood my the populace of Ariel. They appear to the Ariels in many shapes and forms. They are considered to be gods, although they are not worshipped. Each society on Ariel has developed a religious system and gods particular to their origin.

Immortals and Lady Cocoa (13)

There are a total of 13 Immortals of Nunn-G. This group is comprised of Humans, Elves, Trolls, Orcs, Halfings, Merpeople, Dwarves, Goblins, Giants, and Satyrs. Each represents an original bloodline brought to the planet and subsequent groups of similar cultures. The Supreme Being, Lady Cocoa, is the balancing factor and the final judge in disputes within the Kingdom. Legend say that the first of her bloodline was a child of the Great Ones.

Humanoids (15%)

Small tribal units living in areas above water. Their only goals are hedonistic and treasure seeking.

Elves (14%)

Familiars are pumas and owls. Forest dwellers, very in tune with nature and animals.

Trolls (1% est.)

Horrid, carnivorous, w/ insatiable appetites for food and lust. They attack w/ no fear consuming entire populations for food or pleasure. They are prone to kidnapping and crudely fashioned torture devices.

Orcs (2% est.)

Barbarian culture with little more than pack mentality and baser instincts. Predominantly nomadic with few living structures.

Halflings (26%)

Halflings tend to be the negotiators and have good relations with all races, although they tend to keep to themselves for close friends. There are many combinations of Halfling, which often produces some strange results, such are the union of a Satyr and a Dragon, or Insects with Humanoids.

Feys (Nymphs) (4%)

Females of incredible beauty. They hate all that is evil and ugly. Their demeanor is charming and graceful. They are found within all areas where good and beauty prevail.

Dragons and Merpeople (unknown)

The Sea People are elegant, graceful, and regal beings. Not much is known about them. They would rather parley before fighting, live in stone cave/castles. Have loyal guards (animals appropriate for the terrain), form packs with giants,  and eat pearls.

Goblins (unknown)

Tribal, sleeping in communes, no privacy among the group. They are nocturnal and night raiders.

Giants (2% est.)

Chaos, destruction, warriors: These are not your social types. However, they do tend to befriend the Water races.

Satyrs (1%)

Half human with fawn legs and horns -- possessing enormous male genitals. This group often have old, ugly faces, and gnarled upper bodies. They are generally unattractive, except for their sexual temptations.

Dwarfs (5%)

Very family and clan oriented, generally skilled artisans like blacksmiths. They are very hard workers. Dwarves are Cave Dwellers and build massive and intricate structures within their cave systems.

Sentient Animals (5%)

There is much speculation as to the origin of the sentient animals. Some feel they are descendants of Halfling combinations where all of the non-animal physical  characteristics have disappeared. Other, believe that other sentient life forms are descendant of these sentient being. Neither theory has been proven or disproved.

Unreported (12%)
